Hydrocele

Hydrocele surgery, also known as hydrocelectomy, involves the removal of excess fluid and repair of the affected tissues surrounding the testicle. This procedure is typically recommended for individuals experiencing persistent discomfort, pain, or enlargement of the scrotum due to a hydrocele. The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia. During the procedure, excess fluid is drained from the hydrocele sac and excess tissue is removed. The incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures, and patients are typically able to return home the same day.

The recovery after surgery requires a few days of bed rest, avoiding strenuous activities and wearing supportive underwear. These are critical at reducing the rates of recurrence of hydrocele after surgery.
